Memory of you
Lily Hennessee
I search the night sky
To fill the hole inside
Where you once placed stars.
The sky now only shows
What used to prove true
About me and you.
a poem for dad
Lily Hennessee
I wasn't born begging for the mango seed.
Slurping til left with the bone.
Little feet and hands crowd as dad cuts,
Dad said the most beautiful things in life are the dregs, the seed and the peel.
And life is too beautiful to not gnaw clean.
